Bending Toward Justice Event
The United Against Racism Team (UAR) of WFUMC and VCR invites you to a time of learning and conversation.
Join us with other churches from the Heritage and Capital Districts on March 2 from 4-6pm in the Wake Forest UMC Family Life Center as we hear the wise voices of Rev. Alma Tinoco-Ruiz, Rev. Justin Coleman and Austin Holland share about why they are United Methodist, their experiences as clergy and staff of color in the UMC, and what they see as opportunities for our churches to take in practical steps toward justice and beloved community.
Participants will also gather at a table with others to discuss, share and learn together. The goal is that everyone will leave with one practical they might take to follow Jesus while being committed to a diverse and justice seeking church.
Gravity and Grace Lent Bible Study
Mondays, March 10-April 14th, 6-7:30pm at VCR.
Childcare provided.
The Christian life is about being with Jesus to become more like him and do the things he did. It’s not a question as to whether we are being formed. The question is what is forming us. What is keeping us grounded and growing? This class will explore time tested disciplines for the spiritual life. Together these disciplines act like a trellis helping us to grow and experience the presence of Jesus. These are how we apprentice ourselves to Jesus and experience God’s transformative grace. They create the means by which God changes us from the inside out!
Creative Cardboard Carnival
March 15, 6-8pm.
This community event for all ages mixes the fun of STEM and unlimited creativity. In a world where kids are often told exactly how to do projects, this will be a space where their imaginations can run wild. We believe God created us in God's image to be creative!
At the Cardboard Carnival there will be cardboard tunnels, cardboard games, but best of all stations where kids can create anything in their imagination that is cardboard related (as long as they can fit it in the car after!)
We will have all the supplies but all that the parents need to bring is their kids' creativity!
